Back to his roots…

June 9, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Or actually back to his blonde, but you can see his roots.

more about "Back to his roots…", posted with vodpod

I think my favorite line from the interview is the part where he talks about growing up in Indiana and then moving out to CA with his two friends and principal. Oh, the days of Miss Bliss.

If they actually do get the Saved By The Bell crew together I may watch Late Night with Jimmy Fallon for the first time in my life.

Proper use of the word ‘extreme’

March 11, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Guess I never saw this cause I was a bit old when it came out. I probably would have watched it.

They do have episodes and clips on youtube, feel free to browse. I also love this even more now cause I looked it up on wikipedia and not only is there a Pteranadon character (my favorite dino), the description of Bullzeye is perfectly scripted for my life right now. Maybe I need to start wearing that dinosaur suit earlier than planned, sisterkungfuhustler you better get the bear suit ready.

That Dude is Smart

February 26, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Fun factoid. I just started reading Laurence Tribe’s book On Reading the Constitution. Perusing through the Acknowledgments section I came upon this: “We are grateful for the outstanding efforts of several very talented people…Robert Fisher and Barrack Obama have influenced our thinking on virtually every subject discussed in these pages.”

And then in the Notes section (yes, I read the Notes section): “We are grateful to Robert Fisher and Barck Obama for the metaphor of constitutional interpretation as conversation.”

This book was published in 1991. Obama graduated from Harvard Law (where Tribe was and is a professor) in 1991. He was 29. Awesome.

I just had my 28th birthday, I’m feeling a bit behind.

P.S. I have had no luck trying to figure out who Robert Fisher is, anyone? Searching for Bobby Fis(c)her II: The Law Years.

James Todd Smith is the New LL Cool J

September 27, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Or he’s the old LL Cool J, or LL Cool J has always been James Todd Smith. But whatever the case I am simply writing to express my appreciation for the Cool. As his appearance Wednesday night on Project Runway (sorry Suede, but you needed to go) showed us, the man is a fantastic looking fourty. Seriously. The man was born in 1968, or so the wiki tells me. I was a fan of his ‘Mama Said Knock You Out’ video back in 1991 (special attention to the Unplugged version) and it seems he’s calling a comeback now with strategic appearances on popular shows. Come on, appearing as a hip-hop mogul called Ridikolus on 30 Rock? Superb. The already mentioned Project Runway guest judge appearance. And, the highest achievement of coolness possible, appearing on the new season of Sesame Street. So yeah, props to the Cool. And does anyone else remember the movie Toys? He played the military minded cousin of Robin Williams’ character? He was the son of the bad uncle who took over the toy company? Anyone? Well, I was a huge fan of that movie. I suppose that’s all I’ve got to say. Yay LL. Take it away Elmo…

No Shirt + No Shoes = Beach Festive

August 28, 2008 · Leave a Comment

So Jezebel blogged a WSJ story on dress codes that go beyond the realm of “black tie” and “biz. cas. fri.,” to include “beach festive” and “safari chic.”  My favorites are actually “resort dressy” and “creative black tie”.  All this, and Coolio, after the jump. (more…)

maybe not in contempo casuals…

August 24, 2008 · 5 Comments

in between my olympics watching this past weekend, i caught a showing of clueless, which was playing on bravo. a channel that i might be stealing (well, yeah i am stealing) along with some kind of big brother security camera that shows me traffic at the queens bridge and herald square. oh and apparently the bravo signal is really close to some 24-hour adult entertainment commercial channel signal because in between commercials i can see a fuzzy image of a 1-900 number advertisement to satisfy one’s fetish needs.

but i digress…

so obviously the movie has a lot of great mid-90s references. but this line intrigued me the most:

Josh Lucas: In some parts of the universe, maybe not in Contempo Casuals, but in some parts, it’s considered cool to know what’s going on in the world.

DOES ANYONE ELSE REMEMBER CONTEMPO CASUALS?!?!

for all your fashion needs

for all your fashion needs

this irked me so after some no holds barred investigating (read: googling which led to wikipedia), i found out that contempo casuals was bought out by wet seal in 1995 (which is the same year as when clueless came out) and was completely converted to wet seals in 2001.
(by the way, i never shopped here. i was more of an anchor blue and aeropostale girl in high school. aeropostale used to have the best sales, like “everything that has some type of blue fabric is 40% off!”)
