New York Girls – Think of the Children!

eat more chicken?

August 27, 2008 · 2 Comments

looks like nyu might be losing their exclusive chain restaurant cred because according to another blog, there’s some viral campaign promoting chick-fil-a around town. has anyone else see the “eat more chicken” stickers? i kinda love that this is the same method utilized in the public health campaign. it’s kind of like at the end of those bad movies where the villain and hero finally meet and the villain starts his monologue, “you know, you and i are actually not so different….”

oh and by the way, i finally found out where the chick-fil-a in nyu is located.  but i still don’t get why nyu was so lucky to get the only chick-fil-a in nyc for so long, but oh well…who do i need to swipe in before the other chick-fil-a opens?

maybe not in contempo casuals…

August 24, 2008 · 5 Comments

in between my olympics watching this past weekend, i caught a showing of clueless, which was playing on bravo. a channel that i might be stealing (well, yeah i am stealing) along with some kind of big brother security camera that shows me traffic at the queens bridge and herald square. oh and apparently the bravo signal is really close to some 24-hour adult entertainment commercial channel signal because in between commercials i can see a fuzzy image of a 1-900 number advertisement to satisfy one’s fetish needs.

but i digress…

so obviously the movie has a lot of great mid-90s references. but this line intrigued me the most:

Josh Lucas: In some parts of the universe, maybe not in Contempo Casuals, but in some parts, it’s considered cool to know what’s going on in the world.

DOES ANYONE ELSE REMEMBER CONTEMPO CASUALS?!?!

for all your fashion needs

for all your fashion needs

this irked me so after some no holds barred investigating (read: googling which led to wikipedia), i found out that contempo casuals was bought out by wet seal in 1995 (which is the same year as when clueless came out) and was completely converted to wet seals in 2001.
(by the way, i never shopped here. i was more of an anchor blue and aeropostale girl in high school. aeropostale used to have the best sales, like “everything that has some type of blue fabric is 40% off!”)
